Class Canceled; Final Project Idea

I was going into this project thinking about the piece I made about the cyclical nature of things, and how I didn't feel like I was done with that message in a way. Following cues from that piece, I want to create another piece about firearms. I want something with simple but striking colors, sort of like an old propaganda poster. Perhaps an image of a historical progression.

  1. I really like the idea of having a response to a previous project. This opens a lot of doors for things like text, solid blocks of color, halftone dot style, etc. I'm picturing an extra colorful cover of Vogue picturing guns instead of high fashion.

  2. I like your ideas and how you plan to follow through with your earlier project like Aurora said. However although I do like the aesthetic of them, I'd be careful with styling your piece like a propaganda poster if your image deals more with historical progression, because it may seem more political to viewers than it is really intended to be.

  3. This could be very interesting. I don't know if I have any critics except to be clear with the message you want to get across. Interested in seeing what comes out of it. I know it is something you really enjoy.

  4. I think this is a good idea however i think it is hard to tip toe the line of what is a social commentary and what is romanticizing a subject and making sure to be intentional with all the imagery you use so that your concept doesn't get lost

  5. I enjoy the idea of the propaganda poster, but as Hal said, it may be easy for people to read political intention into the work that may not be there. You should always follow your vision just be as intentional as possible so the meaning doesn't get lost. :)

  6. I think responding to a previous work is an interesting concept. I would just make sure your intention is very clear as to avoid misinterpretations. Especially with propaganda posters, you dont want to actually end up making actual propaganda... unless you do and in that case uhh

  7. I love that you're adding onto your other projects, it really shows your passion and creative drive. Firearms have such interesting forms, I think it would be interesting to see this piece on a differently shaped canvas

  8. I like the idea but I think for you to reach the most people you're going to have to narrow this down to a more generalized topic that more people can relate to. Gun law and rights are very touchy with everyone having their own opinion. Perhaps find a rallying point that both sides understand and make something beautiful

  9. what will the cyclical part be?
